PRO AM BOXING

From the age of 10, I started boxing for my local amateur boxing club as a schoolboy and junior boxer, on to boxing as a senior for the army all over the world. On leaving the army through injury, I went back to my old amateur coach at my old club, he mentored and moulded me to become the coach I am today. I have trained national champions at every level as a coach and then turned to the professional side of boxing, learning from top trainers, Colin Moorcroft, Dennie Mancini and listening to top trainers like Brian Hughes, helping in the corner for world title fights of great champions, before training my first professional champion David Burke, together we won the Commonwealth title and then beat the great Colin Dunne for the WBU world title.

All this experience was put into Pro-am boxing equipment, which I started from nothing by myself in 1995. After being the sole distributor for main big brands including Everlast, Grant and Reyes, I decided to develop my own brand, unique to every other boxing brand, using my knowledge and experience. We had A.I.B.A. approval for amateur contest gloves and headguards, these where used in the 2002 Manchester Commonwealth games and most national championships around that time. At this time you could call into the old shop any day and meet all sorts of boxing champions and future champions, not just ones I trained or help train like David Burke, Johnny Armour, Peter Culshaw, Steven Birch, Martin Murray, Gary Davis, Geard Ajetovic, Courtney Fry but other great champions of the time like Robin Reid, Michael Gomez, Howard Eastman, Derry Mathews, Wayne Rigby, even Ricky Hatton, Matthew Hatton and Amir Khan were regular visitors.
